The First Flowers of Spring

The very first flowers to bloom in my yard are always Iris reticulata. They bloom even earlier than my earliest crocus and are often popping through the snow. They are very tiny - about the size of crocus and come in various shades of purple and blue. They've increased slowly over the years and some have formed a nice clump. Here are what's blooming in my yard right now.

These are gorgeous! I almost bought some of the very early iris last year when I was buying bulbs but got nervous about whether I could successfully grow them or not. Now I wish I'd at least tried!

How pretty! I'm anxiously awaiting something, anything to bloom in my garden. Looks like daffodils or hyacinth will be first here.
