Water Color Pencil Experiment

I picked up some water color pencils to try out. I did this little ACEO (2.5 x 3.5 inches) sized doodle to see how well they worked, and I'm not sure I like them. When wet, I can move the color around somewhat, but I can't predict how much. Some colors seem to just disappear when wet and others get more intense. It's impossible to get a completely smooth color. My daughter says I'm just not used to the way water colors look. I may go back to guoache.
If you have any tips on using these, please let me know.

Other than smoothing the background out, I think they look very nice. Maybe if you're going to have large solid areas, use another media? I wish I had more suggestions for watercolor pencil work but I've never been terribly successful with them myself (but.. I'm not an artist).

You did well! I tried the pencils too and found them to have more control than the paints. I LOVE the watercolor paints have a life of their own. Maybe the pencils would be good for small details or where you need a more controlled burst of color? Just thinking out loud...:)

Looks good to me, too! I have some that I am going to try because I need to find a way to not hurt my hand so much when I use my color pencils.
